We seldom have availability but do have one room left for the Blues and Jazz Fest this weekend.
It’s a great event and we are just across the river.

It’s a great event and we are just across the river.

Stephen Gross, who keeps us all up to date with the happenings on the River gives us a great rundown of what is going on at the Guerneville Town section of the Press Democrat. Just click on the link.

Come up and see us and enjoy local small town fireworks and barbeques for a good cause.
If you want to come up and enjoy town, consider booking a room online:

There’s plenty of water behind that dam for swimming, canoeing or kayaking. Johnson’s Beach is open and jumping. Tomorrow there is a farmer’s market next to the plaza in town from 3:00 to 7:00 pm and Maria Muldaur singing from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Remember “Midnight at the Oasis”?

The concert will kick off a summer of fun at the river and is part of a 5 event series called Rockin’ the River.
The first Friday of every month through the summer one can enjoy a leisurely stroll through town some very nice local art work and, of course, food and wine at the First Friday Art Walk.

If you want to come up and enjoy town, consider booking a room online:

Check out the schedule of activities and demonstrations at the mill on the Sturgeon website.
While your at it consider arriving on Friday early enough to enjoy the Occidental Farmer’s Market with Gerard’s Paella, Lata’s Indian Food, and more. Oh, that’s right fresh, healthy locally grown fruit and vegetables too.
If you want to come see us feel free to book online
Usually “dog days” refers to the end of summer but not here at the River. We have 5 cottages where we accept pets at no additional fee. They are the Apple House, the Tree House, Osprey’s Nest, Robin and Quail. There are good options for dining with your furry friend. Garden Grill is one of the most popular, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, well behaved pets are allowed on the deck. For wine tasting Marimar Estate Winery is pet friendly and actually does Yappy Hour on Tuesdays. For more activities and especially river and coast walks with your favorite four legged friend check out the latest issue of Sonoma Discoveries for “Days of Dogs and and Water” by Frank Robertson. You can also walk your dogs on leashes on the roads at Armstrong Woods State Reserve.

If wine futures are more your speed check out the offerings of the western Sonoma County wineries at the 2 weekend long event at the Wineroad site.
The New Year is rapidly approaching and if you haven’t made your list of New Year’s Resolutions, why not add a trip to the river and a few nights at Creekside to your list. To help you do this we are offering the third night free over the Martin Luther King Day weekend, just go to our reservation page, select the three day weekend and enter MLK in the promo code box. It is the weekend of the Wineroad’s Winter Wineland, which is an annual 2 day event where you can meet the winemaker and taste library wines.
Now for Porter-Bass Winery…
If that is not your speed, we have discovered a fabulous winery less than 4 miles from here that provides tastings by appointment only and has some fabulous wines.
We were lucky enough to hear about Porter-Bass Winery from some guests and then made an appointment for a tasting and were delighted to meet the winemaker, Luke Bass, his wife and son. The operation is a multi-generational family run, biodynamic and beautiful.
If you still have energy on Saturday night check out the Russian River Sisters Bingo.
Remember, the third night is free if you book over the Martin Luther King holiday. Just enter the promo code MLK
For years our friends have put up with an old website. Now thanks to Colin Frangos, we have a wonderful new site, easy to navigate and informative.
We think that it is more user-friendly, with the layout of the property which you can mouse over and see photos and descriptions. Also we are going to be using the blog more so watch us for current events and well kept secrets. A good example of this would be Mateo’s next dinner menu for his pop-up restaurant. The dinners are on the 3rd and 4th of March, Thursday and Friday, not the 4th and 5th.
Barrel Tasting at the Wineroad wineries is the weekend of March 5th-6th and March 12th-13th.
We also suggest that you can visit us on Facebook and get more up to date information and reviews.
Here are some photos from around the grounds, taken in April.
