Claypool “Pachyderm” Cellars

Claypool “Pachyderm” Cellars

Claypool Cellars is now pouring its Pinot Noirs in its new Pachyderm Station tasting room on Gravenstein Highway North in Sebastopol, in western Sonoma County.

Claypool Cellars is the handiwork of world-renowned musician Les Claypool of the alternative rock band Primus and his wife, Sonoma County residents since 1994.

They founded it originally from a desire to fill their personal wine cache. Their first release was Purple Pachyderm Pinot Noir (with the name based on the Primus song “Southbound Pachyderm”).

With the hiring of accomplished winemakers Ross Cobb and Katy Wilson, the focus of this boutique winery has moved toward the glorious fruit of the Sonoma Coast, resulting in wines that are leaner and more delicate than ever before. The family-friendly tasting room is open daily, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and includes a picnic area.
